I'm still worried...

Published

I am going to start the PCT program soon so of course I've been reading on here about what it's like to be a PCT or a PCT student. I'm am still worried. A lot of people are saying that the class is easy and it's mostly common sense. I got my textbook yesterday and it's about 900 pages. It's a bit scary that I will be reading that in one semester. I'm sure I've done it before when taking multiple classes and not realize how much I was reading but still. I know this probably makes no sense but I am scared that I won't do well in the class or that I'll be so nervous during clinicals and/or the exam(s) that I'll mess up. I wish I could just get over this feeling but I don't know how to relax.

first off, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

secondly:

it's normal to be nervous!! have you every taken a cna class or home health aide etc? I know when we got our book, I thought, man, this is alot of reading for 30 days lol.

alot of classes I've taken have come with giant books, but we actually didn't read alot of the material. However, I would read it anyway. You never know.

you might find that blogging or vlogging or posting on here may ease your nervousness. I'm sure there are gads of people who are also wondering, what is pct school all about?

good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cookiemonster84, thanks. I have not taken a cna or home health course before. I'm thinking the PCT program will be very similar to the CNA classes others have to take. I will definitely try blogging or something similar. That is a really good idea. Once you write everything out it doesn't seem like such a big deal.

Its getting close :) I start Jan. 6th but i'm not able to get my books till 2 days before the start of class. I could buy them somewhere else but I need to get them from the college bookstore so I can use my financial aid. I wish I could get them earlier. I really like to read so I'll be reading like crazy. I am nervous too. especially during clinicals!! I think we will both be just fine. :) Have a Merry Christmas!

I just got my book the other day and I don't want to seem too excited or anxious so I'm going to wait until Jan. 10th to start reading. I got my syllabus already and and I just want to get a major headstart but I also want to apply the information. I won't start until it gets closer to the start date. If that makes sense.

You may find the book in the local library.

I know the message was meant for momof2prettygirls but tomc5555 If it's a regular textbook then they are hard to find at the library. Some you have to buy at the school. My school was selling the book and workbook together for $75 but I found the same set on Barnes and noble.com for around $60. It doesn't hurt to shop around (and I got it for free shipping and it came much sooner).
