Just want to congratulate you. When I found out I was accepted in my school, it was a great feeling--very exciting, and I was also very surprised. I couldn't believe it. My jaw must have dropped to the floor. Now I'm a senior getting ready to graduate in May. Best of luck to you. :)

MsDrea03 hello!!! and i just wanted to ask you a question...i'm applying to BMCC for Fall 2006 and i'm transferring from a school in the south. i've already taken 3 out of the 4 required pre-clinical classes ENG 101, PSY 100 and BIO 425...i couldn't take the "math for health" class because they don't have it where i am... in total i have 32 credits that will transfer and my GPA is a 3.82...anyway my question is do you think it's possible for me to get in to the Nursing program? and is there anything i need to do to better my chances?? i've tried to call them but it's a nightmare getting through...any advice would be much appreciated:)
AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You must be as excited as I was last year when I got into the program. CONGRATS!!!:yelclap:
Are you in the day or evening program???
yea i am definitely excited..... i will be a day student. Were you a day or evening, and how is it going for you. I was also wondering did you have to take the math exam your first day of class???? I'm a bit worried i toke math104 about 2 semesters ago...what if i dont pass:imbar
I am in the day program, going to NUR 3. The math exam is not hard. Every semester you get one. It's not hard. So don't worry about it. Just do litte bit of practice. It's not intense so don't worry!!! Just get ready for this wild ride!!!:wink2:
Please stay positive, and ask God to help you through EVERYTHING!!! When you don't understand, ask questions, because some people may not understand certain concepts and act as if they understand, and that's not good. Don't memorize the textbook KOZIER, although it's your BIBLE. The reviews and rationales is VERY good. Oh by the way, also get this book ISBN: 0803610564 Fundamentals Success. Trust me on this one, it will test you on the material, and practice NCLEX questions.
Good Luck!!!
thanks for the advice...Fundamentals success was that a book you picked up on your own??? im going to register for classes tomorrow and will be stopping at manhattan books any other reccomendations???
As far as the math exam... what type of questions do they ask...is it strictly dimensional analysis or they give a situation??? multiple choice??? is it the same test every semester??? and how many questions?? sorry for all the questions just trying to prepare myself for this "wild ride" :)

Fundamental Success is NOT required, but it HELPED many students in the class to think critically about the subject. Nursing is not like A+P, but you need to know how to apply the knowledge that you've received. You understand, the 1st exam in NUR 112, several students scored very low to the failing point, but once they knew how to study the material it got easier. I loved that book because sometimes you can read the book over and over, and think that you know the material, and practice those questions to realize that maybe you need more time understanding the nursing concepts. :wink2:
Now the math exam is NOT multiple choice, that would be too easy!!! Yes, it is strictly dimensional analysis, which I love. I did not learn any formulas, when I took MAT 104, which I am really grateful for, because I believe that I can calculate any nursing math problems. I think they have 10 questions and you need 8 out of 10 correct. (I'm not really sure)!!!
Example:
Md orders 20 mg and the drug X is available in 5 mg, how many tablets would you administer in a dose?
or gtt/min questions
No, it's not the same test every semester, NUR 3, we will get peds math question!!!
