because of my HS in michigan being shut down and the scores i made on the placement test at my community college. I have to take a year or two of developmental courses. Its a good thing in a way, but now im at 5 years for my BSN instead of the 4 it was going to take me. My family keeps telling me that i can do it, and that its no big deal because im only 24. But i wanted to be done with everything by the time im 30 and i'll be 25 in december. This is really setting me back and I'm beginning to rethink being a nurse. Idk what to do anymore, because this is really not in my plans.

I think your family is right. It's not a big deal although its annoying and frustrating. But to rethink going into nursing over it? That's a little dramatic to me.
I'm sorry it didn't fit into the neat little plan you had set but life rarely ever goes exactly how you planned it. I say go through the classes and get good grades so you can start your prereqs on the right foot. You will want to make sure you get the appropriate grades so you can get into the actual program. I'm assuming you are not actually in the program yet based on your post. I apologize if I'm mistaken.
Good luck.

I know it's not easy when things don't work out just the way you want but give it time and know that you have a LOT of time ahead of you. Finishing after 30 isn't that big of a deal in the scheme of things. You might consider taking summer classes and anything else to accelerate things. Good luck and I hope you go after your dream. It will be worth it in the end!

Look at it this way. You are going to be 30 years old anyway, so why not be 30 years old with a nursing degree?
You can either be bummed out that things did not work out for you as you planned or you can start chipping away at getting to your goal one class at a time.
I guess what I am trying to say is : either your glass is half full or it's half empty.

Hunny, I'm 27, if I get accepted, I'll be 28 at the time. You're fine.
I just did my class planning for all pre reqs, core classes, and my developmental classes. And i will be done with them all by the end of the fall semester of 2014. So idk if i can start the nursing classes in spring or if i have to wait til fall of 2015 to begin but either way i should be done with my BSN by fall of 2017. So its not as bad as I think, I just have to take it one class and day at a time. Because If i fail any class it will seriously put me behind further. So all I can do is focus on the now and prepare myself for the start of school this fall.
