How long to get ATT in IL?

I found a couple of older threads (2002ish) asking this, but they didn't really have an actual answer.

I'll be applying from out of state (school in NY), and one of the hospitals that I'm applying to wants their new grads to have their ATT in hand before they start working. Our program doesn't finish until May 20 and they plan to start their new grads on June 20. If I submit my application ASAP after finishing the program, about how long should I expect to wait to receive my ATT?

I am also graduating 5/11 in New York and will be applying for my Illinois license! Looking for the same answer as you. I hope someone can help!

...As of 2007, Illinois does not permit Graduate Nurses to practice as nurses. You have to have your Pass Letter in order to begin practicing, and can only practice on that for 3 months before you need your actual license to continue practicing.

As for the ATT itself - I had everything submitted (money to both PearsonVue and Continental Testing, my fingerprints, and my background check) before I graduated, and received my ATT about a business week after I graduated. (There was a long holiday weekend between graduation and when I got it.) That said, I am an IL resident, so I'm not sure how long it'll take them to OK you since you're from an out-of-state school. I would double-check with the IL BON to make sure your program satisfies the requirements for IL so that you don't get any nasty surprises come Spring.

It took me about 6 days including weekends. Its been quick cuz less students graduate during December. Good luck on the NCLEX!

I thought I would bump this up for those of us anxiously awaiting our ATT's. :D

I should be able to answer this one in the coming weeks for the out-of-staters. Took my final this morning and mailed out the license app right afterwards.

Updating. I received my ATT letter today. Graduation was May 7, my school mailed our information in on May 11. Pretty speedy.

Thank you for those who already responded to this question. I am currently waiting for an ATT, did you all receive yours by e-mail or regular mail? And is the average wait time to get it just a couple of weeks? Thanks!

Doodledee, I received mine via email which is what my nursing school told us to expect. I applied for the exam online in April but my school didn't send in all of the information until the week after graduation. I received my ATT email approximately 8 days after my school sent in their paperwork. Keep in mind though that we graduated earlier than a lot of other programs in the state.

I would like to recommend that you check your spam folder as some people in the past have had their ATT email end up in that folder. Good luck!

Did you graduate in IL, too? If so, that kinda throws the time-to-ATT off a bit, since I was wondering about the time for people from out of state schools to get their ATT when applying in IL.

Pixiesmom- Thank you for your response.

Haunani - I also went to an out of state school so if I get my ATT anytime soon I will update.

Small update from me... apparently I misread and they wanted the ED-NUR form dated on or after date of graduation, not program completion, so I have to submit a new one. So... new form sent to program director in NY for her to fill out (again) and then send it to IL.

Hopefully soon.
