Illinois License Renewal

I am a new grad; took the NCLEX on 12/30/15, my license was issued on 1/19/16. I understand that Illinois requires renewal in May of even years; does that mean that I have to renew my license after having it only four months?

The board's website is very general, and states that nursing licenses are renewed in May of even numbered years. No further details are given. I dropped them an email; I was just hoping someone had some experience with this as it seems odd to require newly licensed nurses re renew after such a short period (including renewal fees).
