I am scheduled to take the TEAS test tomorrow. There was no time to study so I only have today. I bought the online assessment and passed the test with a cumulative score of 84% . But I did poorly on the science part and only scored 50%!
When you took your TEAS did they just score cumulatively? If you flunk one portion like I just did will you flunk the whole test?
Assessment Scores
Reading 100%
Math 92%
Science 50%
English 84%
I am quite surprised by the science score! I did poorest in Life science, physical science and human.
What do you make of this assessment score?
How does the assessment test compare with the real TEAS? Were there things on the TEAS that surprised you?

i did the practice questions on testprepreview.com and i passed in all areas.
i didn't think the test was as difficult as the practice questions, actually.
i'm not sure tho how it works as far as scoring... i think at my school the minimum admission score was a 84% or above in all areas.
good luck tomorrow! you will do fine :)

I did pretty much the same as you. Wasnt a big deal considering how horribly written the science part was, and what a tiny part of the whole test it was.
At this CC where I am invited to take the LVN-RN transition course passing is 67% and at the other CC I am waitlisted on it is 70%.
I have to pass the TEAS before they will allow me to add into the course.
I am going to study science right now! :)

I haven't taken the TEAS yet, but I know at my school you need at least a 50% in each area to pass. However, if you only get a 50% in any one area, chances are you won't have a competitive enough score to be accepted. Last semester, average score for the sciene section was 84% and it was the lowest one of the four different sections.
I'm getting the impression that the TEAS is the most basic stuff. Am I right?
no exponents or square roots on math. Maybe no geometry? or angles?
I'll keep studying.

Hi Fairewand! Grats on taking the TEAS!! Were you asked to take it...perhaps that means you are getting close to getting in!!
About the Science part. Do not stress. I scored about the same as you on the online cummulative part and completely biffed the science portion. My overall score on the TEAS ended up being in the high 80's% and I was fine.
I guarantee you will find that you OVERSTUDIED for the TEAS. I will say that there were 2 or 3 geometry problems on the test, but very basic ones like. 1/2 base*height, a^2 + b^2=c^2, and finding the perimeter.
Remember, you only need a 67% and I am certain you will do much better than that. Good luck, you will do fine. Don't stress!!
Oh ya, one thing I forgot to mention....I actually did worse on the English portion than I did on the Math so do not neglect that in your studies as I did.
OMG SDMamma thank you for posting! I should have just PM'd you! LOL.
Yeah I got a letter from City College saying I could take the LVN-RN transition course and that I need to take the TEAS. The letter listed all these dates on into April so I'm thinking I had lots of time. I was working on the day in Feb so I sent an email to sign me up for the one in March at City. The reply was they were only taking those that passed the TEAS into the transition course and you have to call them on Feb 23 to get the add code for it. So the results of the TEAS must be in on Feb23.
So great. Here I am and I need to take the TEAS like right now. Plus I am sick and you see the cold and wind outside? It is going to be pouring tomorrow and I'm taking the trolley to SDSU for the test not knowing if the score will get to City in time for me to add the class there. They said it takes a week and I have to make the phone call to get the add code on Feb23.
Why did they list all those dates anyway to take the TEAS when we can't use them!?!
If I make it into the program I will fall in with the nursing school class 2nd year in Autumn. Then I will graduate with them in 2010. :)
I hope it all works out.
Thanks for the heads up in Geometry! :) I remember some of that stuff but just need to study to brush up.

I took the TEAS a couple of years ago and from what I remember it is pretty basic. I think it is a good idea to complete the study guide and go over any weak areas. For my school, we had to have a minimum ( I don't remember the number) in order to pass and be accepted into the program.
