NOM, there was nothing wrong w/ what you said - I was just thinking there are those of us who have gotten cold and calloused - or not thinking about these things. We do have to protect/ insulate ourselves but we can't do it to the extent we aren't seeing them as people ... I doubt that would ever apply to you from what you said!

What I said earlier was roughly that if I did as the video suggested, I wouldn't be able to function as a nurse because I'd be so depressed I would probably quit my job.
The reason I deleted it was because I didn't want people to tell me how uncaring and callous and mean I am or have them assume I don't hug a sad patient or console sad families.

I dont think not hugging a sad patient is uncaring..
