If the PA BON denies me, will my current BON be notified

Nurses Criminal

I got a RN license and job prior to being convicted for 2 misdemeanors. This was 2 years ago and my state doesn't require background checks on renewal so I could stay here forever. I want to move to Pennsylvania and am willing to take my chances with the PA BON. My concern is that I get denied and the PA BON notifies my current state costing me this license too.

I'm a nurse manager and we've had nurses with a valid license in our state and a suspended license in another state. It doesn't appear that the suspending BON bothered to notify our state BON.

Anybody with experience in this matter?

I am unsure as to whether PA will notify your current state if they deny your application or not. If they do deny your application for licensure and don't report it to your current state, you might be asked to disclose whether you've been denied a license by any other agency. At least I have been in every state in which I have apply for license renewal. You might also be asked to disclose your prior convictions if they occurred after your current license was issued.

Best wishes in whichever route you choose.

Most applications/renewals ask if you have been denied anywhere else. Honesty is the best policy. Weigh up how badly you want to move to PA...
