If you are a CNA in California, Can you continue as an RN in the Philippines ?

Published

So for example you are a CNA in califonia,. and you plan to continue your education in the Philippines as nurse, do colleges in the philippines give credit to your earned experience and education as a CNA in california?

like for example, if youre a CNA you can continue to become an LVN in 18 months time. Is there also a such thing like that for RN in the philippines ? because im planning to do that .. im only 18 years old male. and any ideas will be really welcomed. thanks! Godbless.!

You have to be aware that training outside the US will always mean you are treated as international trained nurse and requirements by th estate board of nursing can vary. Also some states will require a local license before they will allow you to receive eligibility to sit NCLEX. There are LPN schools in the Philippines but they are not recognised by the Philippine government so no license is sat for at the end of the training.

At 18 years of age you have a lot of time ahead of you and may want to consider doing your training in the US. You could go the LPN-RN route easy enough in the US or look at doing RN-ADN and then go up the ladder BSN etc

depends where you go money is king in ph you can buy rn lic at some schools or pass exams with money not all but some as my filipina friends tell me . I had a class mate who failed the final course here in the u.s. she flew to ph and i don't how she managed it but she got a school to accept every single course she took and she didn't even have to repeat the final course she was preparing to take the nclex when we were about to walk All this in 3 week span.

It's those type of people that shouldn't be allowed to sit for the NCLEX in any state or province. Those are the types of people you don't want working on yourself or family members. It's those types of people that give Filipino nurses who have worked hard a bad name. Yet people wonder why their education and expertise is questionable.

sad to know that these kind of things still happen.... i doubt though if your classmate will be able to pass the nclex if she just literally bought her diploma.

Hmm. thanks for all your reply, but like i said, if there's anyway that i can continue my nursing degree in the philippines. without taking it all for 4 years, and if my CNA certified would be accredited over there, so i dont know if there is such thing like that back in PI.

BSN in the Philippines is 4 years with a think plans to make it 5 years. There is no telling if the university in the Philippines will give any credit to CNA certification or any other courses you take. this is something you would have to ask when you research and look at the schools in the philippines

I don't think they will since CNA work is very basic (vital signs, ADLs). Plus ( no offense) they really want your money, so they are probably going to make you take the whole program (4 years... I think they have already changed it to 5 years this year). If you don't want to do all four years, then maybe you should take the LPN or the ADN route...? But not in the PI because I don't think their LPN programs counts anywhere (even in the PI, I heard).

I am willing to bet my last devalued peso that your classmate didn't get her diploma from a school. She more likely went to a forger and bought a cleverly crafted facsimile. Offers of counterfeit diplomas are all over the internet, one does not have to travel all the way to the Philippines to get one. Crooks multiply at such amazing speed because of people like your classmate. They are the kind of people who do not have a place in the nursing profession, nor in civilized society.
