Hi everyone,
I am new to the community and I feel rather lost! I am currently taking prerequisites for nursing and have started compiling a list of schools to apply to this fall and I stumbled upon Idaho State University's nursing program. I like the layout of the curriculum and wouldn't mind living in a small town! I haven't seen many messages about the program and would love to learn more before I seriously consider it. What was your experience like with the program and with living in Pocatello? Did you feel prepared for entry-level nursing?
Thank you so much. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

I just graduated from the ISU program, If you decide to go there for school good luck. When are you looking at starting the actual program? Pocatello is a great town and cheap to live in compared to surrounding universities. I haven't taken the NCLEX yet and don't have my temp license even so I can't say how prepped I am for entry-level nursing but no matter where you go you'll never feel fully prepared because book smarts and clinical smarts are two separate things. You have books to build a base but working in the environment helps a ton for hands on learners like myself. They're in the process of getting new leadership, we had a Dean come in and then bounced because of how big of a headache things are since the change up. Many professors are pursuing their PhD's or Masters therefore it seems like the program is dealing with the effects of the professors being pulled in too many directions. In a few years when they have a full staff rooster lined up again and things figured out it'll start to rebuild its reputation. You'll get out of it what you put into it. Go for it study hard and come up with your own conclusions.
