Idaho nursing

Published

I saw this had been asked previously but it never gets answered and people just rant randomly. Does anyone know if Idaho state is unionized? I have tried to look up collective bargaining agreements but have not been able to find any. They are public in the state I live in. Also, what is the rough pay scale for Idaho and job availability? If you currently work in Idaho please also respond with what EMR system you use. I am trying to get an idea of what the hospitals are like out there. It is easy and convenient when you are unionized and the CBA’s are available to read before choosing a hospital.

Did you go to the Idaho nursing forum here?

No, ID doesn't have unions. I live in ID and choose to work across the state border in WA instead because the pay and benefits in ID are horrible.

Well that doesnt sound promising. Most compact states are typically a little rougher on nurses. WA unions are pretty worthless and the pay really isnt very good either there (considering how ridiculous the cost of living is). Are the ratios bad? Are the hospitals running really short staffed and cant find nurses?

I'm guessing that Idaho facilities, like most other rural community hospitals, have a difficult time attracting experienced nurses, and as such, are constantly behind the 8-ball on staffing. BTDT. Sucks.

Ya thats pretty true of most all hospitals everywhere. Some hospitals however run short staffed and aren't looking for nurses. It is nice when they are at least making an effort to find people. Nothing worse than working on a unit that has been critically short staffed for months desperate for help and doesnt even have a job opening posted.
