ICU Feedback

by MsADN2014 MsADN2014 (New) New

Last week, I interviewed at two ICU units. One unit was in critical care unit in a community hospital, and the other was a micu in a teaching hospital. Currently, I am working on an integrated acute/imu floor and I want to enter the ICU area for the next 3 to 5 years. After 3 years, I plan to apply to enter a ACNP program. I am looking for feedback on which unit would make me a stronger ICU nurse? BTW, both hospitals offer decent salaries and benefits.

Based on my personal experience - units with the label "Critical Care" tend to have a much more diverse patient population than those with specialty labels like MICU, CVICU, etc. A more diverse population (surgical, medical, trauma, etc) would add more value if you're shooting for an ACNP.
