I am wondering if I can do it

Published

I am having a horrible time with my first semester. I graduated as a LPN last year and took a year off to get my family life on track ( we moved) before continuing. LPN year was a breeze and I passed with a high gpa. This semester is different! I keep making silly mistakes on tests only. Homework and quizzes are fine. I am wondering if I should call it quits and work as a LPN to gain more knowledge and come back stronger. This semester ends in Feb. 18th. I want to do it before its too late :(

What is distracting you? Silly mistakes are fixable. If you can buckle down and focus, I wouldn't give up yet. Good luck!

Having been an LVN for 12 year and an Corpsman in the Navy for 4 years I say with some conviction that you just need to power through school. Because nothing is really going to prepare you for school, remember how much real life nursing is different from school nursing? That isn't going to change. You need to take a look in the mirror and figure out what is going on with you and commit to change. Only you can make this better. Unless you have something obvious going on time is not going to help you. Remove distractions, make a plan, talk to your teachers and make it happen. You can do it, the first semester back is always the hardest because you have to refind your footing as a student.
