Trouble is, kids would never respect me. I'm too much like them.

Thanks! We like to think that we're a pretty cool bunch. School nursing is not for everyone (just like any specialty) but if you want to give it a go- then go for it!

I'm like a giant big kid. Kids love and respect me, and it helps, because I can usually get to the nitty gritty of the problem faster than the AP would because I'm not an authority figure.

If you really were serious and not just being kind to us, see if your school district offers sub opportunities. Pick the school near you (or if you have kids, that school) and go visit the nurse. Bring chocolate.
