Hello all,

I just saw my NCLEX result and I failed.... :o

I took the Kaplan course (classroom w/ online questions).

So, my BIGGEST concern is now what? How do I study for the next time I take the test?

I've asked around and most of the nurses in my hospital gives the Kapan a big thumbs up.

Do I retake the Kaplan course and go through all of their instructions again?

HELP ME please...

I'm really heartbroken about this and I don't know what happened...

I'm depressed too... I know everyone says that this happens to a lot of nurses. But, it's hard not to.

Thanks a lot to all...

First, get in touch with your Kaplan instructor and/or the center from which your instructor works. Most are nursing instructors or educators. Perhaps they can help you discover what happened. I would not pay to retake the course, unless you feel you didn't pay attention or whatever. You should have the material and the center has resources. They want happy customers so give them a call. The test is not easy. You are not stupid. You can do it, but you may need personal help. Good luck!

Sorry to hear your news.

I just passed boards last month. I didn't take the Kaplan class; however we were advised by our school to get several different sources to study from. The ones I found the most helpful and true to the test were the Nursing Made Incredibly Easy books - there was one that was a review type book that breaks into categories (ie. adult, peds, psych) and subdivides further into individual topics. Has great summaries/nclex cheat sheets at the beginning of each chapter. Comes with a CD Rom of practice questions. The other book in the series is similar with more questions (3500). I also used RN Gold CD rom, and a few other study guides (a few I checked out from the library).

Chin up, you will pass it soon I'm sure.

I agree with classicdame. Did you just study Kaplan? Use other sources such as Saunders. Saunder is a good book. Read the rationales and strategies. Ask yourself, why other options are not correct. Think positive, you can do it the next time. I like Kaplan because of the strategies on how to reword the questions.

Faith - even the most darkness in the universe can't even overcome a single candle.

Have faith Nurses. =D

Kaplan has a guarantee when you take their course to prepare for the NCLEX. If you take the course and do the practice tests and still fail the NCLEX, you can either take the course again OR get a refund. Follow up with the center from where you took the Kaplan course for specifics.

NurseLunmpia, how well did you prepare for the NCLEX? What were you getting on the practice tests through Kaplan? According to Kaplan, if you score 65% or above on the final practice test, then you are ready for the NCLEX. Can your struggles point to any one area or a couple areas? The answers might help you determine if Kaplan is the right course for you.

We had two people who failed the NCLEX in my BSN program. They studied their butts off, did a ton of practice questions, took it the next time and knocked the crap out of it. You can and will do this.

What did you take? The PN or RN? From my understanding, this year's NCLEX-RN has had a dramatic fall off from usual pass rates. This isn't fact, just what I've heard from several sources (I know that My school, which usually does very well at NCLEX, had a bad RN outting this year. PN remained at it's 100% pass rate though). So if you were taking your RN that may be a reason. I heard that they concentrated far more on pharm this year than in years past, and the question structure was different. Just what I've heard...

Thank you everyone for the support.

I took the RN board exam.

I have called Kaplan and they said that I need to submit an "official" fail notice. Then I can retake the class if I want to.

I took all their exams, I guess, I just didn't "get-it" next time tho I am going to get it!

Piki, I'll check out these books

again THANKS ALOT!!!

I took kaplan 2x and failed. Now I Check out the sticky at the top of the thread New revised first tip of Suzanne plan. I am using it now and going to take nclex a third time and then be a testimony to her plan as well. Good luck

Just curious, what were your scores on kaplan?

I took the NCLEX today, used Kaplan, HESI, MEDS PUB, Miller, Saunders.

Scoring 65% with Kaplan and total of 7000 questions.

I am in the boat of thinking I failed at this time. Find out Friday (staying hopeful)

75 Questions and when I looked up all the questions I could remember, I think I got them wrong. I believe I overwhelmed myself with TOO MUCH Studying.

Don't give up. The NCLEX is a hard test. I know of someone who was a classmate of mine who was an honor student and didn't pass on her first try. She was devastated and took it again and passed.

I agree with the others. I took Kaplan and had about 4 other NCLEX books I was studying from. Perhaps look through other NCLEX books also.

I send hugs to you. Don't give up.

Check out the sticky at the top of the thread New revised first tip of Suzanne plan. I heard alot of people passed with her plan and its free just follow it exactly and buy the book with the cd. I will be taking it a third and passing it. Stay positive and keep in your mind that you will be RN.
