I took the HOAE and feel doubtful about it.

So today I took the HOAE and felt so prepared for it as I have been studying for it for the past month. I started with the hardest section Academic Aptitude. It was 75 questions in a span of 40 minutes. I found myself stalling too long at the questions I wasn't sure about. Then I got nervous because I was seeing the timer going on the top right corner of my screen. I got this brain fog and then I ran out of time before I could answer all the questions! I don't even know which question I was on. This feels like a nightmare because I have been working so hard towards this. I also had a hard time with the Natural Sciences even though I didn't run out of time for that. But I feel I did well with the Reading, Spelling, Vocational parts. I hope I will have an okay average and that it will be enough to pass!

Anyway, I applied to college already with hopes of getting accepted as I have done very well on my prerequisites. (Math 84%, Biology 75%, Chemistry 81% and English 90%.)

Can anyone else relate to me regarding the HOAE? Do you know someone who got accepted even though they did poorly on the HOAE? I appreciate any feedback. :)

I just wrote the HOAE as well and the same thing happened to me SERIOUSLY word for word but I haven't received any marks from it yet and I'm extremely nervous. Just out of curiosity did you end up getting into the program ???

I got into Mohawk College Practical Nursing program. I just finished the program and now I am studying for the CPNRE test! How did you do on the HOAE?

I took the hoae in June at Conestoga and applied for the January 2020 rpn program. Has anyone heard anything concerning waitlists?

My high school marks were 95% average through upgrading (college level courses) and I recieved a mark of 80% on the hoae. I do not have any means of achieving the extra 5% based on previous healthcare diplomas such as psw.. Are these marks sufficient enough for acceptance?

I did good. I got into Mohawk but waitlisted. How was it there? I got into Seneca as well for September start so I am doing RPN there and then hopefully bridging later at Mohawk to the BCSN. I am so nervous, I keep hearing its awful hard and your family life and social stuff is put on the side for the whole program.

CURLYKATE what did you get on the hoae ? Do you think my marks are good enough ?

I got something in the 70% I don't know my exact mark as I took it at Sheridan and they didn't give it to me. I got 223 out of the 300 from what I can see on Mohawks portal. I think your marks are great and you should get in. Good luck! Let me know!

July 22 is the equal consideration date. They probably won't send out acceptances before then. With those marks, you will get in for sure. I started in Jan 2019.

Just go to a northern Ontario college no test required, they prepared me extremely well for the CPRNE and I passed on the 16th of July 2019. My high school marks sucked too like all 60s lol.

Hi Epohwena,

I've also written the HOAE at Conestoga early on in July, as I'm hoping to get into the January 2020 RPN program. I haven't heard back from admissions however I was able to see how well I've done on the HOAE through the Conestoga Student Portal and through OCAS! I also figured out how they calculate admissions, but it's only a guess of how they average out your academic average (50%), HOAE score (45%) and previous experience (5%0

As of right now, I have 93.75% average for all the required course, but truthfully I did quite poorly onthe HOAE, by receiving only a 69% . However, I've completed the PSW program and was Recently in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Conestoga, so I'm not sure how much that would be worth for my 5% previous experience.

I'm hoping to hear back soon.
