I am thinking of applying at a different LTC to see if this LTC is better than my last one.
Am I a fool to even try again? Am I suffering from the delusion that I might find better circumstances this time around?

There are good LTC's out there...I've worked in them...I've run them.
The business is getting harder by the day but you can still find a well run place with owners who care about more than just the bottom line.

No. It is not the worth the difficulty and aggravation of finding the diamond in the rough. I do think most facilities don't intentionally set out to be substandard, but the expectations are unrealistic at best.

Do you have Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) in your area? Their SNF's are usually well run.

I understand what you are saying VANurse2010. I have heard that there are good LTC's out there somewhere. I just haven't had any luck yet in this lifetime of actually being able to find one of the good one's.

I admit I have never worked at a SNF in a CCRC. I think there might be a CCRC in my area.
I will have to check and see if they have a SNF too. Thanks

There are some good nursing homes who still care about the residents and staff, but they are hard to find anymore. Just do your research and don't apply at any home with under a four star rating. If you can, try to find a non-profit LTC. They are generally very well run with little staff turnover. The best nursing home I have ever worked in was a non-profit. I was there for four years and hated having to leave.
