I have taken the TEAS 4 times

Published

So, I have taken this damn test 4 freaking times and have only scored in the 70%. Is there any possible tips that I can receive to improve my test score???? It's ridiculous how I am scoring 70% which is getting frustrating. For my fourth attempt a hired a tutor spent atleast $500 dollars and still got a 70%. I also studied the ATI book which was basically useless, the book had so many errors and the way of explaining topics. I'm prettt much losing hope. This test is so rigged lol

Besides the tutor, what have you done to improve your study methods?

I went to other study methods such as khan and other online material al

I used the teas v manual. What worked for me was to make flashcards for each section. For example in the science section of the book, I had flash cards grouped together for the cardiac system, the reproductive system, etc... limit the cards to 1-2 bite sized pieces of information. Write down everything the book covers that you don't already know by heart.

Pick a group of flashcards and practice that set until you have them memorized. Then move onto the next set of cards....remembering to go back and review the cards you have already memorized occasionally.

I also used the TEAS mastery app to practice questions when I was out and found myself with a few minutes of down time.

I only studied for the science portion and math. For the mat section, I used kahn academy to learn how to do the problems I didn't know, and then printed worksheets online for extra practice.

I did not study for the English or reading sections, as I have always been strong in those areas.

I scored an 87% overall on my first try. 93% in math, 84% in science, 87% in English and 91% in reading.

Good Luck!

Did u take teas for rn or lpn ? I just passed on my first attempt... you really need to know math and science... English you really need to read and reread and reread until you can dissect the information needed... very time consuming

Well first you have to look at what you are doing badly in! Do you purchase the online exams from the ATI website? I found them to be a good investment! They show you where you are having difficulty specifically. Review those sections as much as you can, if it's math look up a bunch of problems online and complete them. If it is reading, you have to learn to be more careful when you read while also being fast enough to go against the clock. I truly found the ATI 6 study guide to be the BEST study guide out there because they show you exactly how the TEAS questions are worded. In fact, that is the only thing I studied with and I got an 89% my first time. I read the entire manual from cover to cover. Very effective for the math, reading, and grammar sections of the TEAS because you'll know what they're looking for...make sure to do the tests at the end of every section as well for practice and look over anything you got wrong. For anatomy I would say it is a bit lacking, definitively study what is in the manual for it, but also maybe go a little more in depth with your old anatomy textbooks with the different systems.

In terms of how to study, it is always practicing and reviewing over and over again until you're sick of seeing it. Someone mentioned flashcards, those are pretty good especially for the systems of the body. Put the flashcards down on a table and do not flip them over until you can list out loud everything you wrote on the other side. Using the tests in the ATI 6 book also help A LOT, I'd suggest doing those a little closer to the date you're going to take the test so that it is pretty fresh in your mind and then briefly reviewing them the day before. About two days or so before the actual exam, I'd recommend doing the second practice exam (since the bundle on the website comes with two) so that you get in the zone and you know what you still have left to work on and review those bits the exam says you're still struggling with.

Don't lose hope, you can totally do it. :x3:

I took the TEAS in December and did well. Are you enrolled in a college? My school had free tutoring available for several subjects. I met with a Chemistry and English tutor with very specific questions. That helped quite a bit. Also used the Mometrix TEAS secrets book and McGraw Hills practice test books. I bought the ATI book but did not use it as much as the others. Finally I got my hands on SAT and ACT review books to really sharpen my language and math skills. Those tests are harder than the TEAS at least in my view. For Anatomy I was almost done with A and P one so that was fresh in my head. I knew some of the AP two topics well but others not at all. As expected that was my weakest category. If I had AP two under my belt at the time I might have gotten a few more questions right but I think it would only have added a point or two to my overall score. Try watching Professor Fink videos on youtube if there is an AP topic you would like to review in detail. Good luck!

Ken, you sound like me!! I have paid over $1000 for the tutors, testing, and all of these darn books!!! I had to get creative, because I was so frustrated. Email me at [email protected] I have a study guide I created that really good

Hi, I tried to email you as well but i keep getting a fail message. want to confirm your email address. Thank You

It sounds like you really need to review the material in full; mainly the science section because it is short but is so broad in its questions spanning multiple science courses. Go over your Anatomy and Physiology by breaking it down in sections, and Biology and Chemistry basics. Lots of practice questions for Math and English, and for Reading it can be a pain but take your time going through the passage and respective questions. Hope this helps!

I just took the TEAS 6 and studied my brains out and only got a 62%, someone recommended Adkins Academy to me? Has anyone used that, any reviews? I used the ATI study manual and 2 practice test, watched khan academy videos and crash course. I am desperate to get into nursing school. I have 30 days to study before I take the TEAS again. Desperate for advide!!! PLEASE HELP

Its rigged. Look at your scores and look at the subsections none of it adds up correctly.
