I quit my job as a CNA

Published

I was hired as a nursing assistant at the nursing home I did my CNA clinicals. I worked there for almost 3 months before becoming miserable. A lot of it had to do with management and coworkers. That said, when I saw things were starting to go south, I applied at various different jobs, and where I landed was at an elementary school as a kindergarten aide. I LOVE this job.

I cant see myself getting hired as a CNA at our local hospital as I only have 3 months experience. I left my last job on a good note and etc though.

Is it wrong that I'm still considering applying for my schools nursing program since i quIt my CNA job so easily? I've worked so hard up until this point and have a 4.0, so I know I'd get in. I have other options but still feel this is the path I should take.

Nothing wrong with what you did unless part of the admissions process is to be employed as a CNA.

I don't see anything wrong when you decided to quit your job , you found another job that works right for you ; Plus even with 3 months experience at your CNA job, will come in handy for your first semester of nursing school .

Specializes in Pediatric specialty.

Its not wrong at all. I was an STNA for years and it is truly the hardest most underpaid job. You took care of yourself and your mental health to find something that you enjoyed. Life is too short to be unhappy and if going to nursing school would make you happy, then go for it!
