Hello everyone!
I just thought I'd share the news to everyone here....Don't get me wrong, micro is hard class but with determination, you can do it! And my determination paid off....with an "A"! This was my last pre-req also...so I am officially done with pre-reqs! I start nursing school in August. I know this is just the beginning...But I never realized how much I love microbiology! I just want to thank my wonderful instructor, Dr. Pommerville for making the class much more enjoyable and it was such a wonderful experience. He never goes out of topic and he is always updated.
So anyone who had this instructor who wants to share their experience, please do so.....I will surely miss this instructor. Makes me want to take micro again...with him as an instructor of course:D

Wow! Sounds like you had an awesome experience. Wish I was in AZ and could take that professor. Sometimes it makes a HUGE difference who your teacher is. Good luck on starting nursing school in August. I am taking Micro in the Fall. I hope I enjoy it as much as you did.

I sure did have fun...and it does make a difference on who your instructor is. The way Dr. Pommerville gave notes was in the very beginning, he gave us 'workbooks'...which is a bunch of powerpoints that he made except it is blank with pictures so when he does his lectures, we fill it as we go. It definitely helped a lot because we can study in advance and if he was to change something in it, it was deleting something that we didnt get to talk about. And what he had in the workbook, was what we talked about in class...he might add something relevant to it but nothing major. This guy has everything planned in advance. Oh by the way, hes also the author of the book that we used (but rarely used it because he said the stuff in his book were more in depth than what he wanted us to learn...but we still read it regardless:D).
I am sure you will have a good time in your micro class...and heres my:twocents:...if u take REALLY good notes, you'll do great in class. And any science book you have, especially micro and anatomy...dont sell it back because it will be useful for later when u get to NS:up:

Thats great. Good that you had a great instructor and a fun time. Not everyone is so lucky in that regard. My instructor liked to make every test feel like a final or a MENSA entrance - you had to be able to think so far out of the box just to understand the questions, that the answers were often an after-thought! That said, I enjoyed it all the same. Not the worst class ever. Really, I loved the biosciences (chemistry... not so much)
Good job!!

I have my finals tomorrow...right now I have a 91% in lecture and a 98% in lab. As long as I do good on finals my grade will stay an "A" so pray for me! I also loved my teacher, we had all nursing students so she geared her discussions toward bacteria of the body instead of the environment. It was very fun looking at the bacteria in the microscope, seeing what the bacteria looks like that invades our bodies. I start nursing school in August and can't wait! Congratulations to everyone on here for the hard work and dedication it took to get the grades you got!

I'm taking Micro this Spring and I'm hoping that I can follow in your footsteps and make an A as well! Hopefully I will have as great as a professor as you and have as much fun as you did! Best of luck in nursing school!
Hikernurse, so you work in the NICU? I often wondered if that would be something I would be interested in, I just don't know if I could handle it. I'm sure it is very rewarding, care to share any stories?

Wow! Good job! Micro is pretty insane, all those diseases and stuff to memorize but fortunately my teacher is very good, and unlike other instructors I've had, he really cares and wants his students to succeed! :chuckle Out of Anatomy/Physio/Micro, I have to say that I like Micro the best. I'm taking it this semester as well and I have an 87.58%....let's hope I can bring it up to that A! Good luck again with your future endeavors and keep up the good work!

I also just passed Micro with a 'A". I worked my but off for it and I am so proud of myself because it was a tough class. I had the most awesome teacher though. She was hilarious, and made Micro such a fun subject to learn! I've grown to have quite an interest in Micro too, its a fascinating subject.
