I Passed an Accelerated A&P Course!

Published

Hello Future Nurses of America,

Just wanted to let you know that I just passed an accelerated Anatomy and Physiology I course with a B. Just in case anyone is wondering, yes, I'm a little crazy; yes, the class only lasted 5 weeks; and yes I will be taking Anatomy & Physiology II for a regular-15 week schedule.

My main reason for this post is to encourage you...hard work and lots of studying can get the job done. I was warned not to take any accelerated courses because of their difficulty, but I challenged myself to work harder than my norm. I DID IT! This small achievement has now unlocked something even greater. Now my expectations for myself are even higher. If I can work, go to two summer classes and still earn a B in a 5 week class, then I am expecting an A in A&P II. My standards for myself are high.

Wow that's insane! I've heard everyone say never to take it in summer or winter because of how hard it is. 5-6 weeks is intense! Good job! How many hours did you study a week? What was the hardest thing for you? Any tips ?

I would study anywhere from 1-2 hours each day, sometimes more if a test was the next day. I also had a really good teacher. She offered an hour of study time with her each day in our lab. I was able to ask questions and get answers straight from the source right after learning the material. Study groups also make a huge difference! Classmates offer various interpretations of info, can provide a better understanding of the material and can even come up with great techniques for studying and memorization.

Way to go! I took Human Anatomy this summer (8 week course) and passed with a B also. I was taking it with college algebra and developmental psych but I also don't work (besides raising kids lol). This fall I am taking Chemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Nutrition, government (retaking) and intro to psych (retaking). It's amazing that after that summer, even with taking an overload semester, these sciences seem to be in slow motion and I feel way ahead of the game. Great job!! Best of luck in AP II

Wow...you are awesome. I took College Algebra over the summer too, but I got a C. There's no way, I'm retaking it though. I'm hoping that I can earn A's in microbiology and A & P II this semester to overshadow that C.

I feel the exact same way you feel about this semester seeming slower. I was sitting in Micro thinking, so we don't have a test this week?
