I need your opinion on my dilemma..CA or NZ?

If you have rellos in Australia and wanted to work there, why were you not sponsored by them? You would already be there by now and have hubby and a job and be able to get large discount on any nursing courses and possibly be on your way to PR or already there, then there is all the government benefits you get with having children, unemployment, pensions, all paid by the Australian government and then they pay for your deposit for your first home, etc etc etc. great place!

I am sure the people in New Zealand always feel well loved as they are always considered a stepping stone to Australia by nurses.

Only you can make this decision, how do you feel about hubby? myself......Canada, Canada, Canada, Canada and Canada. :yeah:

Always enjoy their hospitality when visiting there, type of 'sisterhood' with Aussies...I love the snow as I only see it for a week a year up on a mountain.

You have many possibilities, but if I were you I would decide what my heart wants, even if it would be a more complicated process or lasting longer to get PR etc.

Where do you, deep inside yourself, think you'll feel home, satisfied, happy to be?

Choose that country!

If you are family bound, why not considering Australia?

A door will always open, if you believe in your dreams.

Have you already been in Australia, NZ or Canada?

My place will be Canada, but I prefer a colder climate, lots of snow and rural communities - first I thought it will be either BC or Yukon, now it seems to be the Yukon, as my hubby received a job offer in Whitehorse - like mentioned before, a door opened.

I've lived in Australia for the past 4 years and the government hasn't given ME a deposit for a home! And you'll find that you're not entitled to unemployment or many other pensions or benefits - there are waiting times for them for new residents.

As for nurses who use NZ as a stepping stone to get to Australia - you'll find that is getting harder and harder. Both countries have become more tougher with their requirements for nursing registration, particularly in Australia now they have a national registration board. And living in NZ does not guarantee entry into Australia unless you're a NZ citizen.

As for where to live - i think you need to be honest with yourself and decide what you want from life and from your career. If you've already paid $50K for PR in canada, maybe you should consider continuing down that path. Thats a lot of money to be throwing away! But only YOU can decide where to move - yes its a hard choice, but you're the one living with that decision. If all else fails - you could always toss a coin!

@Ceridwyn, our relatives in Australia will just give us some certain points in migration because its my aunt and my brother-in-law(hubby's brother) who are there. I still need to meet the requirements for registration to be a nurse, which I failed because I do not have all-7 band score in each module of IELTS, so I decided to apply in NZ instead, which accepts combined scores of IELTS. But when I realized that Canada will give us better opportunity and will enable me to petition my parents in a shorter time than NZ, I took the chance and applied and got a favorable response. However, facing two doors, somehow chocolate doors, is still hard to decide where to proceed. :uhoh3:

@Mona77 at this moment, I cannot really say where my heart is, when I think about NZ, which is laid back, with work already but will wait for a bit longer to be with my loved ones, disheartens me. I will be in a tourist visa there until I have finished my CAP, which is one and a half month, wait for my license and apply for a working permit, until then I can petition my husband.

When I see myself in Canada with my husband, I am satisfied because that is our dream - to leave with PR status, yet thinking that I still need to take the CRNE, will hurdle to find an RN job, which according to some is really happening, hearing failed stories about other migrants in Canada, battles with my optimism. I have not been to any of those countries, in fact I've never travel abroad.

Thank you Ceridwyn and Mona77. It eases the heaviness I am feeling when I hear/read views of others. Its really hard to decided on this.

@dvsbec thank you for sharing your honest view about Aus govt. I've also read about the national registration there, so many nurses from my country, Philippines, use student visa as their entry. I also tried to apply last year, but I'm glad it didn't pursue because its hard to live there with that status. Things really happen for a reason.

I cannot really predict what will happen in the future, and what is really ahead of me.. Whatever country I choose, faith and hope are both required, prayers too. I need to decide before our medical exam, will it be for Canada or NZ... I'll let you all know..
