I need to ask the experienced among us a ?

I applied for an STNA job at a specific hospital I want to work at after graduation, so in the hopes of getting a foot in the door I applied and interviewed back in November, but they couldn't accommodate my school schedule, but the charge nurse (ICU) did express her disappointment that they couldn't hire me. I also applied for an externship in this same hospital for this upcoming summer, and I haven't been contacted yet for an interview (I received an email from the recruiter and they are working on getting an interview schedule together) so I know its upcoming....

aaaaannnnnyway - today I got a voicemail while in class from the ICU step-down unit wanting to interview me again for a per-diem position (yahoo!)

so now the question is when I interview for the per-diem position, do I also mention that I applied for the externship? The externship would be for OB, but I'm not adverse to working in ANY unit - and for the summer would be ok with doing both - but do I keep my mouth shut or do I tell them and cross my fingers that it won't conflict with each other...

thanks for advice!

Congratulations on obtaining two interviews.

You must be forthright and honest during them. I cannot see a downside to this.

You have two areas interested in you.. let them fight it our for you!

thanks - I should mention also that the externship position could lead to a permanent per diem on OB (my true passion)...

I figured I should be honest - I'm going to have to work full time for the summer anyway - why not check out a few different units!
