I just read this description under the accommodations for the CPNE for disabled people.
The student must be able to stand for 90 minutes without the use of assistive devices (i.e., cane, crutches, walker, etc.).
I don't recall seeing this before--when I applied to Excelsior they did not mention this, even though I was very clear about my physical condition. (I have a bum leg and work in an electric wheelchair, and use a walker to get to and from my car.) I don't have any trouble doing my job at all--I'm a charge nurse in a nursing home, and I can lift/transfer people etc. etc. adequately. I just can't walk too far
So, any advice or suggestions would be helpful. I have to get through this--I have a desk job waiting on me! For those of you who have taken the CPNE, did you have to do a lot of standing and walking?

If I were you I would call the school and plead your case. Somebody there is going to have to listen to you and respond to your problem one way or the other. How were you planning to do your PCSs if you can't stand for long periods of time? Maybe you could arrange to have a chair out in the hallway, go in to do your thing in spurts, and retreat to the chair for time outs. Maybe they would allow you to bring your walker into the patient's room. Something has to be worked out. You can't come this far and lose it all. Let us know how this goes. Wishing you good luck.
