i thank everyone here who shared their experiences & those who gave much optimistic support to others. i've been reading the threads for a couple of weeks now & somehow or another, it gave me comfort knowing that i'm not the only one going through this. well, i want to share mine as well & hoping to help my fellow future nurses:nurse: .
i took mine on feb. 10. since my state has nclex quick results service, i got my unofficial result online today (sunday). i was so nervous & anxious as i typed my info. all i know was i had to find out so i can finally feel at ease. so, i gathered my strength & clicked the mouse to finally see it. well, god is good! he answers prayers to those who sincerely ask & he can do miracles--he made me pass! i was jumping for joy & thanked him .
when i got done with the test last friday, to be honest, i really didn't know if i passed. it cut off at 75 & i already knew that numbers doesn't mean anything. so i was thinking either i bombed it or i should give myself credit 'cos i must have done well. i tried to think 50-50. i had a lot of "priority" q's & a couple of "select all that apply". there were probably 5 q's i was so sure that took me only seconds to answer. to me majority of the q's seemed hard, only because either i've never heard of 'em before or i didn't know much about it in detail. what i did was the elimination process-- i really had to talk it out in my head which one is the best answer & why the other 3 are not. usually, i can narrow it down to 2 then i'd go back to the q again to get a hint at what it's asking. i guess kaplan really helped me on this & become a better test taker. i only bought the kaplan book & the other book i used was lippincott's which was borrowed from the library since money is tight. oh, take time to go over the tutorials in the beginning, it helps to bring your anxiety level down by the time you get to the actual q's. if you need to use ear plugs, they provide it.
we all have different study habits & studied for a never ending exams. suggestions here are very helpful but only you know what works for you. what works for you might not work for others. continue to study the way you know how to pass an exam. believe in yourself. if i made it through this, you can too! may god bless everyone! thanks everyone for the encouragement.

I'm taking the NCLEX tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. The postings like yours are helping to calm me down. I'm very nervous and just drove to the testing center so I'll know where I'm going tomorrow. I want to do something constructive, but I'm so uptight, I can't! So I'm reading these postings and trying to calm down. After reading yours, I think I'll go back to my Kaplan book and make sure I know how to eliminate answers. That seems to be the key. I've heard the same thing from several friends who have taken it and passed. I'm sick to death of doing questions and to tell you the truth, the friends who have taken it and passed said they don't think it helped that much. They said the best thing they did were to read/study Kaplan and bring earplugs.
Wish me luck! I think I can, I think I can.......

thanks y'all! i found this site very helpful as well & wanted to help others in return. i watched a movie the day before, popped a popcorn & went to the park to take a little walk--maybe this will help too. being anxious is normal! "anxiety will stimulate adequate preparation and provide the surge of energy necessary for a powerful delivery." remember the kaplan strategies you learned. don't forget to get some o2 going while taking the test. you have plenty of time to take it. i would do 10 q's at a time and pause for 10 sec. & start doing 10 more & pause & next thing i know i was done. you'll do just fine!
you can do it!--keep up the positve attitude! say a little a prayer & give us an update.
