[bANANA]Just wanted to share my recently confirmed passion! [/bANANA]
I spent 12 hours in the OR yesterday with several different nurses. I learned so much and really got the feeling for the job. I have been interested in the OR since, well since I knew there was such a thing I guess.
And then I was hired as a new grad into this rotating/transition/orientation program at a large teaching hospital. So I am not locked into a specific floor or shift yet. I've been working on a surgical floor for 2 months now and it has been a great experience, everyone says I'm doing a great job,and the manager keeps asking me when I can start, but it's just not what I want to do.
I've been doing a lot of research for the past 2 months, and checking out books from the hospital library, and of course reading posts here! yesterday was my second day shadowing in the OR and I'm sure without a doubt that not only do I want to be an OR nurse, but I'm pretty sure that after all my training and experience- I will be a good one too!
I left a message for the NM this morning and I cannot wait for an interview
Anyway, I just thought I'd share... and thank you to everyone who posts in this forum, it has been a great help to me so far and I'm sure it will continue to be:)

Good Luck! Be yourself and show the enthusiam you seem to have and I think you'll do well in the interview. Most Directors love to see the interest and willing to learn that will make up their mind. Welcome to the club!

Just thought I'd update- yesterday I had my interview, then went back up to the floor to work, and within an hour they called me and offered me a position! Which of course I accepted:)
