I love my job.

Posted

Specializes in LTC.

So, here I sit at 1am watching TV on my laptop while getting paid really good money. Yes, I work my butt off at times, but it is nice to have a little down time every once and a while. I am thankful my job is so laid back and lets us use the free internet. I never thought I would like long term care, but here I am loving it and the residents too!

i give you kudos for working the 11-7 shift. i do it once in a while for ot and it is tough not to fall asleep. what floor are you working on that you are "so laid back"? it is nice that your job is letting you watch t.v. and use the internet. just make sure they don't use these against you in the future. :D

haha... us fish have to stick together... sounds like my job description too... except I am playing on all nurses at the moment. Usually I would have studying to do. I love NOC shift private duty!

I love ur job too:(

I just "clocked out" and I'm going to go scream in my closet before I explode like a pinata!! Then I have to study :(

Can't wait until I have my BSN.

I worked that shift when I was a dispatcher, and I loved it too! Now, with 3 kids, not sure I would ADORE it, but I don't mind the "gravies" as they're called in law enforcement. Good for you! As a nursing student I love hearing about those who love their jobs. :)

Enjoy!!!!! I work LTC too and can count on my hand the "slow days" that I've had in the last year. Man, they were weird...felt like I was missing something but everything and then some was done!

You made my day, I burst out LOL while I was charting & had a min. to check the site, by the way good luck on your studies. In answer to this post I have one thing to say... If you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life~ :yeah:

I think that is what it is, I love what I do. It does not seem like work even when the little older lady is hitting the call button before I can make it back to the nurses station and I just left her room. My grandmother was high needs, always thought she was sick and just a pain to be around at times. The ones that can be a pain remind me of her, so it is not hard at all to deal with them.

Heck, what other career can you only work 12 days a month and make good money. Yep, I work at one of the few LTC places in my area that treat their nurses like people, pay for benefits and even let you bring your kids to work. I think they will have to run me off from this job, lol.
