I just had the most wonderful day at clinicals. My patient was an absolute joy to work with and it just made my day. I've had a few grumpy patients the past few weeks (hey, who isn't grumpy when ill?). So it was a lovely surprise to have such a great patient today.
If only they could all be so pleasant :) I'm happy I'll get to work with this one again tomorrow. 2 more weeks to go!

I love the grumpy people, I make it a mission to make them smile at least one time on my shift. I'll take grumpy over needy any day!

People who are pleasant in general are well-received by me. There were several patients I interacted with this semester who were like what you described. I liken it to when I used to wait tables and I'd get wonderfully nice customers who were a joy to wait on.

Don't be surprised if this same "absolute joy" of a patient becomes "a mean/grumpy patient" the next day you care for them. I've had this experience many times.....just sayin!

At the end of the day, good, bad or indifferent, they are just patients.

I had 4 lovely patients yesterday as well. I am an orthopedic RN taking care of joint replacements post op. The knees are all a joy day of surgery as long as their blocks work. Hips can be if not itching or throwing up from the dura morph. Day 2 when the blocks wear off and the PT starts? Now, that's a completely different story. Glad I'm off today. Hahahaha. Nah, I know what you mean. Great patients are what we are in it for and they help us forget the trying times.
