I just purchased KAPLAN

How many of you are using KAPLAN? Or have tried it and loved it n passed the board exam the first time?

We were required to take the Kaplan live course as a graduation requirement. I also did all the online components including the Qbank. Finished all the qbank questions (1000) of them and all seven question trainers with scores in the 60's. Took nclex on Tuesday and failed with 75 questions.

Excuse me?? I don't even know how to respond to your comment. All I can say is that it was extremely insensitive of you. Many other factors go into passing the NCLEX besides the Kaplan course. I'm sure I am not the first person in history to have taken the Kaplan course who did not pass on their first attempt. I would highly recommend that you choose your words more carefully. What you said hurt my feelings deeply. I was being open and honest and owned up to the fact that I failed. Do you think that is an easy thing to do? Let me tell you it isn't....I'm saddened by your comment and lack of compassion.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt ur feelings. Your comment actually scared me because I just spent money n knowing someone failed it..freaks me out even more. I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings or anything.

I accept your apology. I think one of the problems is that everyone thinks the Kaplan course is a 100% guarantee that one will pass their boards the first try. That simply isn't true. I don't think any study plan can measure up to that. Everyone gets different tests too and for me perhaps the test I got just didn't measure my strengths..who knows. All I can say is that I desperately wanted to pass the first time like all my classmates. I didn't want to go through this again. I do hope that you have great success with Kaplan's program. I'm not saying it isn't a good one. I just wish I would have studied from more sources in addition to Kaplan. Kaplan does not do a great job with their rationales like some other study aides do such as Saunders.

Posting comments online is difficult at best. You can't see the person, can't hear their voice etc. I'm just suggesting that perhaps you realize that and pick your words carefully. All is fine, good luck to you!!

I have a fear of not passing the nclex the first time too and I don't know if I could handle taking the exam the 2nd time around. My parents are expecting so much out of me and I think If i fail the first time, there going to be sooooOOO disappointed in me,

Just try to relax. Take your time, study hard and one word of advice, if you don't feel ready to take the exam when you have scheduled it, change your date. Trust your gut instinct. I realize that no one ever feels 100% ready, but if it is nagging at you, trust your yourself. Postponing a week or two won't make any difference and may even increase your chances of passing on the first try.

Ya, I agree with you. I thought about changing my exam date because I am no where near completing saunders cd and I just started kaplan 2day. Thanks for the advice hun.

I understand where you are coming from Kaplan is a good program with understanding how to dissect the questions. When are u scheduled to take the boards?

There have been some people who failed using Kaplan, no one will always pass NCLEX first time, you do have better chances if trained in the US compared to a foreign nurse and current figures show 87% pass first time from the US. The main thing is study and preparation and if you fail, rethink your plan.

No NCLEX review program/book is a 100% guarantee of passing the NCLEX. Kaplan is an excellent program, and, yes, people do fail after doing Kaplan. Many factors come into play. Some people get nervous their first time, freeze, etc. This can happen with any review method.
