I went to UT Austin for 2 years and was not accepted into their nursing program. My overall GPA is 3.01 and my prerequisite GPA is about a 2.67. Looking at other schools, it seems that even gaining acceptance to THEM is a long shot. Does anyone have any suggestions to what schools I should apply to? Any advice is greatly appreciated. There are also SOME course I have not taken, maybe 2 or three (English 2, microbio lab, and growth and development).

Hey,
I was in your situation before..the best thing you can do if you want to get accepted into any nursing program is get that gpa up!! Take any classes over that you may have got anything lower than a C especially if its a science course. I don't know about in Austin TX but where I'm from the lowest gpa nursing schools accept is maybe a 3.5..I know it may sound tough but you can do it!!!
Good Luck!!
All of the courses I have taken I earned a C or better in already. At this point my GPA can only go up a very small amount.

Are you looking strictly at 4 year universities or have you considered applying to cc's as well?
If I were you I would check and see how schools handle classes retaken. If your prerequisites are all C's you may need to consider retaking them and getting an A or B. You may also want to go ahead & take Micro. Then apply & apply to all the schools that you can.
My main priority would be getting the GPA up. You are against hundreds of other applicants & you need to make sure your GPA is competitive.
Good luck.
