I hope you can help me...

Specializes in Pediatric Nursing.

Hi everybody,

I'm going to start looking for an LVN job.... in the Inland Empire. I was a peds home health nurse for 6 months and I stopped to focus more on my BSN program I'm going to finish next winter! I want to work in geriatrics.. I absolutely love the older adult population. I worked in assisted living during lvn school as a CNA and I learned a lot. I met the nicest/meanest residents and with that I found that I loved older adults. I always seen to just "get them" (lol and I'm only 22 years old!)

So I want to work in a nursing home. Even though I was an lvn for 6 months, I still feel like a new grad. I had the same case for 6 months and never changed. I did have some emergency situations though... But I just want to be with a facility that is willing and open to training me. I need to experience what it's like to have a patient load. I viewed a website for Palm Terrace in Riverside which is a rehab/nursing home.. it seemed nice. I want to work in a place that really values their nurses. My last job did not care about my schooling (I was getting my BSN!). Of course the work is hard... and it isn't always appreciated....

But does anyone have ideas? Should I just walk into a facility and ask for a position? How about schooling? Do you think LTC will work with my school schedule?

Thanks a bunch!!!!:heartbeat :typing :D
