I'm so excited! I got my CNA certification almost a year ago, but things have just kept getting in the way of me going to work.
So yesterday, I put in an application at a LTC facility and they hired me on the spot! The shift is 6-2, which for us means that I will get off before my husband has to go to his 2nd shift job, which in turn means we won't have to put our two year old in daycare! AND it's Monday through Friday so no weekends! AND it's about 6 blocks from the house we are buying--we close in about 2 1/2 weeks. I was so happy, I forgot to ask about the pay! Lol!
It's been one blessing after another for us lately and I had to share that with everyone! I'm as excited as I can be!

Congrats!! Sometimes they'll base your pay on how long you've been certified, experience,etc..

Congratulations on getting your first job as a CNA! In my area they have been terribly hard to come by if you don't have experience. I have applied for dozens if not hundreds, both hospitals and ltc with no luck. Good for you. Maybe that means theres hope for me.
Thank you everyone! And congratulations to you, Ev!
Today was my first day and overall, it wasn't too bad. I think the biggest issue I had was my feet and legs KILLING me at the end of my shift! It hurt to push the gas pedal on my drive home! Lol!
I think I might like it once I get the hang of things.
