Hi
I wish you much success. Surely things will get better. I am not in San Diego, so I don't know much about what's happening there.
Some suggestions.
(1) Communicate with your previous classmates (especially those who
have found jobs). Where are they working? How did they get their
job?
(2) Try going in person and speaking to the nurse recruiter.
I hope this helps. I'm sure you'll get other good suggestions from members.

It seems that some people have a slower process in terms of finding employment than others, unfortunately. Many people say that their best results were walking into the facility rather than applying on line. I don't know how employers obtain the resumes on line, but it may be a tedious process to sit at the computer and review all of them, and if so, they may start off by choosing the individual with more experience, simply to avoid too much work. Have you tried agencies? They may not be the best idea per se, because they usually just send people to their assignments and assume that they can pick up quickly. But, they may have some that may not mind training you.

Definitely drop off your resume in person, it allows you to make a good impression with your employer. Best of luck and don't get discouraged.

As a new LVN with minimal or no experience, you will need to walk into facilities and physically apply for the jobs in person. It is so easy to ignore an emailed resume, but very difficult to ignore an applicant who has the persistence to arrive in person and submit an application for employment.
In addition, are you only applying at hospitals? I am a native of Southern California. Many Southern Californian hospitals no longer hire LVNs, so your best options for employment are at nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Good luck!

I am right where you are. I live in temecula, but the hospitals up here don't hire LVN's. Supposedly Sharp, Alvarado, Scripps, Pomerado do. However, alot of their positions are in there SNFs and if they have any acute care positions they want 1 year experience in acute care. I have emailed many of resumes, posted my resume on monster, mailed applications ect and nothing. I think its all about who you know. Start networking and asking around. I found that my husbands friends coworkers mother has been a nurse for 30 years and she works locally. I got her number and will give her a call. Good luck to you!! Did you go to the sharp health fair. I heard that was last week, but I couldn't go.

I used to work in a state prison, well i still technically do. The prisons have a bad reputation because of many things. You will be working with very manipulative people who have spent years, if not decades abusing thier bodies with hard drugs...They come into the prison systems and some die due to non-compliance and past drug abuse and prison medical gets blamed for it.
The prisons are understaffed..because, who wants to work around rapists and murders??? With that said it has its bright sides.
bigB, rapists and murder. it game me CHILLS. no i don't think i can work there.
Poobear: i already went to sharp,scripps,R.children. They hire LVN for their Clinic. but they haven't called me. Also, Sharps on thursday has Walking interviews for LVN. so you may try that. I already went, but the recluter haven't called me yet.

Hospitals are not hiring LPNs or LVNs in most areas. They usually have to be desperate before they will consider it. Keep looking though, there has to be some place out there in need. Also, watch your spelling when filling out applications. Have somebody proof read if you need to.
