I found so many preceptorstates for my FNP

Published

Hey everyone,

I promise this is your solution. ENP network has been updated and they have MD, DO and NP's requesting to help you.

I looked into and it looked like a scam. I'll try it when I get to that hurdle though

Sounds like a complete scam! No reason to have to pay for a preceptorship.

OK HERE IS ANOTHER OPTION, I HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN JUST TRYING TO HELP.

I am just trying to give some resources. And yes, I agree we shouldn't have to pay, but like you said, "you will cross that hurdle when you get there." You will find that most NP's or MD's don't like to precept. The AANP/ANCC does offer help in finding preceptors, here is a letter from them:

(Student fees for both are $55, join now your boards will be much cheaper).

FOR ALL ANCC Members ONLY: Hello!

Graduate students and universities can now benefit from the ANCC Preceptor Bank. Join over three hundred of your colleagues who have already joined the ANCC Preceptor Bank. This newly developed tool will make it easier to locate eligible APRNs and link them with graduate students needing their services.

The goal of the ANCC Preceptor Bank is to fill the need by helping graduate students find the preceptors needed for graduate school clinical, while allowing APRNs to volunteer their time to earn professional development hours for certification renewal.

All universities in the Certification Eligibility Curriculum Review Program (CECRP) will have access to the Preceptor Bank to help students eliminate the costs associated with finding a volunteer. CECRP gives nursing schools an advantage, ensuring nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist programs meet ANCC certification education eligibility criteria. Students gain assurance that the nursing program they have chosen qualifies them to seek ANCC national certification. http://www.nursecredentialing.org/CECRP

Join the ANCC Preceptor Bank to:

• Enhances your role commitment as an APRN.

• Help teach future APRNs and increase their exposure to the latest practice-based research.

• Enhance one's professional reputation by helping a new advanced practice graduate nurse grow into a competent health care provider.

Also note:

All universities in the CECRP can access the ANCC Preceptor Bank for free. The Preceptor Bank links eligible APRNs with students needing their services. This tool helps students find APRNs available to serve as preceptors during graduate school clinical.

For AANP membership:

Annual Dues: $ 55

Student Members are members currently enrolled in an entry-level program that prepares nurse practitioners. Student Members shall have the right to vote in state elections. Student members desiring to seek state office must be an AANP member in good standing for the 12 months previous to the date on which the call for nominations begins.

For ANCC: $55

An American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) membership costs just $55 a year for students and $125 a year for nurse practitioners.

FYI:

Joining a nursing organization can save you up to $125 on the cost of your nurse practitioner certification exam. Overall, when considering the cost of nursing organization membership, becoming a student member of the AANP and taking the AANP certification exam will be the least expensive way to certify costing a total of $295. The most expensive option, of course, would be to take the ANCC exam without a professional membership. If you are already an ANA member, taking the ANCC certification exam is your most cost effective option.

Good Luck!

I am re-entering school after having an emergency leave a couple of years ago. I just glanced at this and it bears more digging into, but hey... I'll gladly pay $55 if it will help me find a preceptor for my last semester! Thanks for the info!
