I am kind of having a tough time right now, so I need a pity me post.... I just feel like I will never get done with these last 4 pre-req's!! All I need is Anatomy, Physiology, Micro and Pharmacology before I can apply to the program but I feel like I will never get them done. My CC has too many students trying to get into too few of these classes. I am so afraid that I will not be able to get into Anatomy this summer because there are so few class times available. They do registration by how many credits you have at that CC (I just moved here so I have none) I just want to have a real job! I know I am only 21 years old but I have always been different from other people my age... my mom is a single mom and I have had to work since I was 16 so being a 'kid' hasn't always been super fun. I have worked at Sonic for over 3 years... I got my CNA last year and worked for almost 10 months and loved it. But we moved so my fiance could go to school and I haven't been able to find a place down here that will even give me an interview let alone workwith my school schedule. I am tired of being a poor student working at Sonic (again!!), I am ready to start my life with a real job that actually helps people.
le sigh.... I guess I'm done with my poor me speech

Hang in there! If you don't get into the class you want/need, try going to talk to the instructor. Sometimes they can squeeze you in, or they might let you know if someone drops. Often people will drop within the first week and you can be right there to scoop up that coveted spot! Good luck.

Dude...I feel your pain. I need those 4 pre-reqs too and I'm taking anatomy right now at a CC. And all the CC's around here have like a HUGE waiting list, and worst of all, they pick people out of a lottery. So regardless if I get a good grade, I'll have an equal chance as the person who barely passed their classes. It's a tough world out there, but we struggle now so that we won't have to later. Keep your chin up

I feel your pain!! I also work so i decided that i would pull all my gen eds out of nursing school so i could focus soley on nursing when i get in. But i am so anxious to start that this semester is killing me!!
My tip would be to buy an NCLEX-RN exam review book(many programs recommend you buy one your first semester anyways) and start familiarizing yourself with the terminology and stuff. It will help you once you get into nursing and it'll help take that edge off.

Are you certain you can't get a CNA position? I know there are a lot of home health agencies, at least where I live, that have a ton of openings for weekend and evening work, with hours you can choose (based on which clients you want). They are always advertising around here. Craigslist is frequently used where I am to post such positions...If you loved your last job like you said, that might really help to keep you sane until you get through the rest of your classes. But I totally feel your pain. I have been taking just one class at a time while maintaing my FT job as a social worker, and nursing school feels like such a long way off. I am hoping to be admitted Summer of '10...
Good luck to you.
