I failed the NCLEX-RN twice. Am I ready to try again?

Published

Greetings allnurses members,

I am a Canadian nursing graduate that will be attempting the NCLEX-RN for the third and final time (provincial board only allows 3 tries).

Am I ready?

I've used Kaplan to review for the first two attempts and averaged in high 50s for all the trainers and Qbank questions. Unfortunately that wasn't enough so I decided to switch-up my review regimen.

I enrolled in a local NCLEX prep course and according to their mock exams I should be able to pass the NCLEX "on a good day".

I also enrolled for ATI and received my green light today. The predictor indicated that I would have a 98% chance of passing the NCLEX.

I was also able to use the UWorld Qbank and having gone through all the questions I was able to average 62%.

Are there any of you here that have had similar experiences, if so how did it go? How accurate is the ATI predictor? What average should I have been getting for the UWorld Qbank? Should I schedule my exam ASAP?

I have so many questions but those are what I can think of right now. Your advice and suggestions are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

I will update my post detailing my journey and experience once I pass the NCLEX, hopefully.

What were your area of weaknesses in the last two tests you took? Have you worked hard to remediate those specific areas?

It's kind of weird actually. On my first attempt I was able to score above the passing standard on everything except: health promotion, management of care, and physiological adaptations. On my second attempt I ended up doing worse than before, with everything scoring below the passing standard. I just don't know what happened there. My ATI coach was also able to identify those 3 same areas as my weaknesses and made me do a lot of assignments on them. So yes, I think I've worked diligently in remediating these specific areas.
