Hi everyone!
I'm a junior nursing student. Every since I was young, I have wanted to be a nurse. I do well in classes and clinicals, as well as throughly enjoy the medical field. However, I'm not sure if bedside nursing is for me. I've done two semesters on a med-surg unit (hated it) and six weeks in OB. I start my inpatient pediatric rotation next week. I hate the impersonalization, seemingly heavy patient load, and all the stress (and of course it increases ten-fold). I feel like it's just a constant rotation of assessment, meds, and charting. While I know it truly is more than this, I can't see myself enjoying this everyday as my job.
Is this normal, or am I in trouble? I understand that there are so many more fields and maybe I just haven't found my niche yet...
Is there any chance of getting hired in an office setting immediately out of school? My goal eventually is to get my PNP/FNP and work as a primary care provider.
Mild freakout over.
Thanks for the responses!

Yeah I didn't like it either. Looky what I'm doing. Deskside nursing. Es ist wunderbar.
Ah, it's a relief to know that I'm not alone. Thank you!
I have my psych rotation in the spring. Don't think that will be my cup of tea either, but we'll see!

As far as nursing goes I didn't like that either. My 15 minute office appointments are nice. We don't talk "psychology."
