should I become an LVN to become an RN?

Published

hi everyone, I have a bachelors in another field and have an overall gpa of 2.2, which is very low I know, I messed up. I live in the LA area and was thinking maybe I should become an LVN or LPN in order to become an RN? what do you think?

any schools you recommend?

any recommendations in general?

this is something I am passionate about and my gpa reflects a lot of hardship I had to go through and now that I'm ready and eager to pursue my goals I want this

Louisiana or Los Angeles? That 2.2 isn't going to get you far when it comes to an RN program. For RN school, you have to repeat all the science courses for recency anyway. Going to an LVN program (Los Angeles) or LPN program (Louisiana), preferably at a community college, may facilitate that process. Otherwise, you should strive to get a 4.0 GPA when you repeat the science courses. Best to speak to an advisor from the nursing programs that interest you to see what is practical and feasible.

Best bet is a lpn program or a associate in nursing for various of reasons. Its a lot easier to obtain a rn job when you studies are completed if you already had nursing experience. Not sure your finances, but you don't get much help financially as a second degree student. It will be hard to get into program with such a low g.p.a (I'm in the same boat). I wasted so much time and money chasing the absn dream. Then I chased the bachelor dream and realized that I just can't afford it.
