Hi to all of you
I was arrested for a few hours following allegation of child abuse by my ex-wife. We were fighting for custody for our daughter. I was released on the same day and I received a letter from the police saying that no further action will be taken against me.
I wonder if that will affect my police clearance when i apply for my work permit at the Canadian Embassy. Can anyone advise here? Or maybe i dont need to declare it on the form?

I woud guess that as the charges were unfounded & never upheld then there's no police record involved here at all. Why don't you ask the police themselves whether it constitutes anything against you? I would serioulsy doubt it does though because it would seem grossly unfair if it did.
I think you only need declare convictions & real charges. However, I'll stand corrected if others here know differently. It might be worth sending a PM to Suzanne as she has extensive knowledge on loads of legal problems pertaining to immigration.

It depends on whether or not that the police include it in their report, but you are only going to find it anything if you do submit the report.
You will not know a thing unless you try.

if you are arrested for a sex offence against a child in the uk regardless of whether you are charged or not it stays on the computer of the constabularly where you were arrested indefinately im afraid, this is due to the law change when Ian Huntley murdered those two girls.

Hi
The best bet is to apply to ACRO for a police certifcate £35, this is the cert needed when you apply for visa, the info on the certificate has everything that has been leagally logged ie convictions.
It takes ten days and you receive it through the post, that way you can see what info is held and know what to include on your application for permit.
Hope this helps,
