I had a question specifically for those who are recipients of this scholarship. I am planning on applying for the 2013-2014 FY application and the main concern I have is finding a job after that abides by their rules. I have looked up HPSA facilities and specifically "tier 1" but there are not many where I live and the chances they are hiring for nurses when I am finished with school is even less likely. How has the job search gone for past recipients? Any advice or information would be really helpful!

For me, it has been difficult because of the economic downturn. For example, HRSA does not allow work in for profit long term care centers or dermatology offices. But, I would never would have been able to afford my education without this scholarship! My advice would be to apply for the scholarship if you need it and worry about it after you get it. Because if you get it, you can email a list of every medical office/hospitals/public health office around your area, and HRSA will tell you if they qualify. I never understood their lists online. Good luck

Thanks for starting this thread! I also have questions about the hospitals you can work at after your graduate. I've heard that you can work for any non-profit hospital, is that true? I've also heard that the list online is only for doctor's and NP's, but that RNs have more flexibility in the hospitals they work in. Can anyone confirm that?

I've been awarded the scholarship and will graduate soon. They haven't been very helpful getting back to me about places that qualify. Won't even give me a list of hospitals that qualify in Southern Califronia.
