HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

Published

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

Right anyone with a second anything can still be eligible for federal loan and/or private loan. Any one with dependents are eligible up to $12,500 a year until they exhaust the full amount which is $57450 (close to that amount) Or anyone without dependents is allowed up to 6500 a year (close to that amount). I’m guessing FAFSA is both free money and loan.... Now what I’m talking about is the free money portion of FAFSA that I am not qualified for because it is my second bachelors. So I have no choice but to accept the $12,500 per year and apply for a private loan. I don’t want any loan- federal nor private. That’s why I’m hoping to get Scholarship.

Never heard of a “free money” award from FAFSA.

Are you referring to the pell grant?

Grants and scholarships are often referred to as “free monies” by institutions due to the fact that they do not have to be paid back.

Right! Pell grant! I call it FAFSA because when I apply on FAFSA.org the only thing I had apply for is that “free money”. When I had apply for my federal loan I applied through my school. I have never applied with my federal loan with FAFSA.org

I mean pell grant is basically “free money”. You don’t pay it back LOL ?

Got it, I’ve never been eligible for the free money part even when I had no income and was not anyone’s dependent so I don’t know how that works. Good luck!

It depends how old you are too! If you are younger than 25 or 26 years old with no dependents then they look at your parents income because you are a dependent to them..... I hope that makes sense. that’s how most people do not get that pell grant aka free money ? but it’s a lot. There’s a lot of things that I probably do not know. I literally find out as I go.

Gotcha! Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that my contract was countersigned yesterday at 1:49. I know that still doesn't guarantee it, but it's one step closer. I didn't receive any notification, I just happened to look now and clicked on my contract and scrolled down. From past forums, finalists had the contracts countersigned over a period of weeks, so don't fret if yours isn't yet.

Goodluck!

Where does it say that on there on the application page?

Amleigh,

CONGRATS! Where did you find that?

Mine also was signed! does this mean we are definitely getting it???

I found it!

I saw that someone countersigned it on August 6th at 1:49 pm. I found it under the Nurse Corps Scholarship program signed contract. It's a PDF which you have to download. Look at the very bottom.

I read someone last year had it signed and then they didn't end up getting it. But also, it was one person on the forum and they were really confusing, so I think maybe something else was going on but I'm not sure. I still wouldn't say it for 100% until the funds are dispersed.
