HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

Has anyone received notification other than "in final review"? I am currently a finalist, but was wondering if anyone has gotten awarded yet! Thanks in advance. I guess I need to let God and be patient for awarding ?

I am also a finalist and I don’t think anyone has been rewarded yet!

Does yours just say “finalist”? I’m pretty sure we’re all at “in final review” and the next thing would be “participant”. Could be wrong- just from what I read in past forums.

Does anyone know how much of the stipend we receive after taxes? It states in the guidelines that we are given $1419 before taxes

That would depend on your total year income and what tax bracket you fall into federally and then whatever your state takes out. I’m from NJ and I can expect about 25-27% taken out of my income in total taxes. So that would leave me with about $1k in the best case scenario. Keep in mind if your tuition is really high, since it all counts as income, you’d get bumped into higher tax brackets. You can Google the 2020 federal tax brackets to get an ideas.

Thank you for that information...So in order to get the most out of the scholarship you have to go to a really cheap school... If your school is around $75,000 a year you have to pay so much in taxes...would it be more beneficial to take out a loan?
