I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?
Oh WOW!! you are are in the same boat as me with that second bachelor! Right maybe! I think it’s A lottery because it doesn’t matter if I have a EFC that is 0. I was kind of hinted out with the representative it’s whoever needs it the most. Some harder than others to get more information out LOL ? I already have signed for federal and private. I didn’t want more loans added to what I have already, but it is what it is! With the scholarship, they offer a monthly stipend which can be a HUGE help To me.I’m praying for it because with the life I have.....I don’t have time for full time job at all during the program.
I congratulate all the finalists! I’m hoping I can be one too! ??

From my understanding and reading every thread I could find of the last few years, it seems they rank off of EFC, GPA, and experience in under served communities (all supported by LORs). A large portion of finalists I’ve seen in the past have some combination of a good GPA, low (if not 0) EFC and have volunteered/worked in an underserved community. I hope this helps!
my EFC is 5000 and I’m finalist. My GPA on my first Bachelors was 4.0. I currently codirect a nonprofit and have for half a decade. I’m in a direct entry MSN program. I’m a homelessness success story, who runs a homeless shelter, and wants to provide mental healthcare for the homeless in the future as a PMHNP.

It just says up through September 30 on the portal. I called yesterday and they do reimburse for the loan if you do end up taking one out.

questions for the finalists, I still have my application under review and no email. I’m just wondering what you guys have since you guys got the email? What is your status now?

I’m sorry you’re going through that and feeling that way. If your EFC is 0 you should automatically be considered for a federal loan under the FAFSA that you don’t apply for separately. Regardless if you heard whether or not you’ve been selected as a finalist, you don’t find out for sure about the award until September. I feel like if they only went off of EFC numbers than it would be a lottery application. I don’t feel like it’s that at all. It’s federal funds allocated through grants so they have to be very careful and strategic in scoring applicants since they get audited or they’d likely lose future funding to do so. I’m also returning for my second bachelors.
