HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship 2020-2021

I havent seen a thread yet on this year's nurse corps application cycle & my anxiety has made me start one. I'm finishing up my application and should be done with it by today. I know its extremely competitive so honestly I dont think I'll get it but its worth a try! Who else has applied/is applying?

From my understanding they would pay the loans off directly because they are federal loans

When I called and asked about the loans I took out for Summer and fall the rep said they would reimburse me then I would have to pay them.

Right I wish they could just go pay off Sallie Mae while they’re at it ??

ABSN peeps-- did you apply for one or two years? I applied for one because my program is only 11 months but I just realized that I probably needed to request two since I will have Summer classes next year.... Now I am stressed haha

Finalist here - doing an accelerated BSN in the fall. Does anyone know what happens if you only applied for the BSN but want to go to do your DNP right after? Does Nurse Corps make you stop school, work for 2 years, and then return to school?

Yes you have to find employment with one of their approved sites I believe within 6 months of graduating.

Hi I requested for two. My program is September 2020 to December 2021. I think I saw on the last page where you submit the contract that it can be modified. I’d give them a call and check. They’re really nice.

I would definitely call and ask. It says a minimum of two years and a max of four. So if you reapplied, got accepted, did school and then did four years, that might be acceptable. They probably put the six months in there for the majority of people that plan on working right after.

Hey all, I turned in my application in April but haven’t heard anything back yet and since than the status of my application is under review. I am freaking out any idea why is taking forever? I turned in the application so early too.

Is it difficult to get the scholarship if your GPA is low? My undergrad was 3.36 and I’m worried that it will outweigh essays, recommendations etc. Does anyone know how much weightage the GPA carries in deciding who gets the award? Thanks!

From past years thread it seems some people didn’t find anything out until the end of August. I’m sorry, goodluck!
