HRSA Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2022

Published

Hi everyone. Just starting this since I didn't see a thread for this application cycle. I received the NCLRP in 2009 and this is the 3rd time applying in the last 5 years.

NP with DTI ~150% and HPSA 17

2nd year applying. RN with DTI < 100. No credit check yet as of April 5th. In 2021 I didn’t get my denial notification until the last week before it closed. Sometime in September if I remember correctly. I thought that meant that maybe there was still a chance I could be chosen, but no luck. I got an email stating that they had increased funding and to apply in 2022 if I was still interested. Good luck everyone in 2022!

Just out of curiosity, Do you know when in the past  have they started sending out acceptance notices? Most of what I have read states the deadline but I cant find anything on when they actually start the process on acceptance notices.

@foxNP I think mid-July is when Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program started  getting notices. The other NHSC program may have started getting notices a little earlier though. There are older threads on allnurses from the past couple of years which may answer some questions if you read through it! And if you’re lucky enough to be awarded some posts are very informative, check them out.

I have applied to this program 4 years now...this is my 5th.

When I started my DTI was >180% and I got rejected the first year.  DTI >165% rejected the second year, etc.... I worked my butt off and have my DTI down to 70% and find out I probably won't be eligible because I am  under 100%.  So unfair.  I am a pediatric oncology nurse and this is my 5th year applying and my second with a credit pull. I have a side hustle and just want some relief. I work at Hopkins and it is a 22 score.  So discouraged.  Thanks for listening.  I feel like it is a no win situation.

The packet says that NHSC has until the end of September to notify people of acceptance. I went back to an old thread where someone was posting updates and put together this timeline from when they applied until awarded (2021):

applied 4/8

credit checked 4/27

finalist/COI email received  6/21

cosignature received 7/7

award confirmed 7/13

lump sum direct deposited 9/24

My credit was checked on 3/18 and my status shows “Under Review”, so I hope this means that they are moving quicker this year. It would be nice to have an answer and funds in hand before student loans potentially come out of deferment.

So frustrating! So today I got a confirmation of interest for the NHSC loan repayment. I applied for both NCLRP and NHSC. Unknown to me, if you confirm your interest for the NHSC you are automatically withdrawn from the NCLRP!! ugh.  So I call the customer service center and filled an escullation, which they do not even know if it is possible to fix this mess. I have $230,000 in student loans, a Clinic score of 17.

@rebeccam406 take into consideration which program would benefit you more in the long run - I have $200K in loans, NHSC LRP will allow you to renew continuously until you have a zero balance, but I think NCLRP will still leave you with a percentage that you have to pay in the end. I hope they can fix it for you to get you want you need.

Now I’ll be checking my email constantly knowing that COI emails have gone out.

@PedsNP2018 Are you able to apply for NHSC after your completion of the contract with NCLRP?

As long as all the contract requirements have been met, I believe you can.

I haven’t seen a COI yet; hoping my luck will be better this year.

Hi everyone,

When I log in to my portal to check my application status, this is all I see.

"Hello Angela,

Your application ID is: xxxxxx

The 2022 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program application is now closed and no changes can be made to your application. If you are interested in receiving notification about the next Nurse Corps LRP application cycle, sign up here ."

Does these mean I already was rejected?
