just think that you can earn bucks which you could use to help your family in the future and you can see how u.s uses advanced technologies in the hospital..

i read the intro to suzannes plan everytime I slack...because there's something in her words thats so stern, it reminds me that, to get what I want I need to discipline myself.

If it is something you really want to do then you will find a way to motivate yourself, people can make suggestions but you need to make the effort.

I've read the Saunder's book twice, the first time I read it it took me almost 2 months and only accomplished Suzanne's 1st tip, took the exam & failed. I was too busy most of the time taking care of my family, mostly tired and sometimes pre-occupied with other things that's why it took me a long time to finished the book.
The second time I read the book and did the 1st tip, it was easier and was able to finished it in almost a month (still slow though). I admit I was kinda lazy and tires sometimes but I really want to get and utilize Suzanne's Plan..(that's the only motivation I had to finish the thick 5 pounder book)..
And now, I am about to start Suzanne's Plan right after I finish the Priority, Delegation and Assignment book (prioritization is my weakest area so I need to read this book).
Just keep going and going, in soon time, we will be RN.. and of course, $$$$$$ so we could help our family financially (that's an honest motivation). Definitely, to learn and master our knowledge in nursing so we will be a competent and safe RNs in the near future.

Any simple ways to clear the mind of rubbish and retain what I have reading Saunders? I failed with 265 questions and my classmate passed with 265. My report shows all at Near the passing Standard. It's been a few months now and I'm really trying to get into studying but like some others it's hard when you thought you did your best the first time.

I motivated myself by registering for a test date. I graduated on may 6th and took the nclex june 20th. I had a study buddy and here is what we did: First we did the kaplan strategy and saunders comprehensive alone.
1. The Kaplan strategy book--just worked all the way through it
2. The Saunders comprehensive review. We did the quizes first (I think this is pirated from Suzanne's plan that we never actually got around to signing up for so we just read the stickie) and if we did ok on the test we didn't read the chapter. We did read all the rationales though. We looked up things we didn't know the answers to.
Then we got together with the saunders q&a and cds from other books and did at least 200 questions today. We would talk over why we were picking each answer and look them up if no one knew the answer and just teach each other. We really only studied for about 3 good weeks. the rest of the time we sort of studied. During that 3 weeks I quit my jobs and put my kid in full time daycare. The night before the nclex we made our husbands take us on dates. We were both in and out in 75 questions and under 30 minutes. Just practice and use those strategies!

when your burnt out its hard to study, and when you try you either:
1)stare at your study materials and get daunted and think about how you should be studying, then proceed to talk to people about how you should be studying
2)start reading, then proceed to have to re-read and re-read the question or line. and sometimes end up day dreaming or telling yourself i have to study!!!
some good advice is to make sure your mixing study time with other activities. [color=sienna]if your at the point where you cant look at your book, [color=sienna]dont. [color=sienna]do an activity you like, go watch a movie, draw a picture, turn up some music really loud and dance around your room, do some streatching, meditate. just do something else. if you end up doing something like watching a tv show and it doesnt work. you should really do something active. jogg, swim, something to get your heart going.
usually it will help clear your head, get rid of your stir-crazy feelings, and make you ready to attack your books again. [color=darkslategray]you can also try changing up where you study, a park, the library, anywhere in your house or in your front yard. try switching it up.

Here was my motivation...
My school e-mailed us a breakdown of the $$ lost when you fail the NCLEX. Depending on where you live it will be different.
For me...in MN...it was a $4000 loss! They added the cost of taking the NCLEX twice...and added up wages lost if you planned on working full time - factored for the waiting period to retake, and the avg time it takes to get a scheduled date.
I studied HARD. If I foudn I was really struggling one day...I made up my mind to "only do a chapter"...but hit the books twice as hard the next day.
Read threads on here from those that have passed...and failed. If you really study...and fail...ok...try again. BUT- if you don't give it your all..and fail..you will REALLY beat yourself up.
Sorry if that was mostly negative...but that was my motivation tactic.
