Responding to another thread got me thinking -- am I the only freak out there that is obsessed? Me, I'm techy -- I have a little electronics store in my purse: Digital camera, iPod, mobile phone, and Palm. I once had a Palm that had a camera in it, and I have both a camera and iPod in my phone, but I never use them (well, maybe the camera in the phone if my kids are being goofy). I find that the cameras added to the Palm/phone take cruddy pictures, and don't do much more than add weight (I like things small and light).

My husband bought me a new iPod and Palm for Christmas, and I was in a dilemma -- didn't have protective cases for them yet, so didn't want to toss them in my purse and get them all scratched up. Not enough pockets in my purse! So I looked around a bit, and STILL couldn't find anything that would work for me. Solution: Took my old purse (which I love, and is often referred to as a Man Beating Bag due to its size), bought some soft, silky Japanese print fabric, and constructed my own 'guts' for my purse, complete with 6 pockets, all perfectly sized to accommodate specific items. Now I can reach blindly into my bag and come out with exactly what I want every time. One one side I have phone, iPod, Palm, on the other wireless headset, notepad, and checkbook. I also have a 'cubby' pocket on the side that perfectly accommodates my dvd camcorder (or whatever handheld game my son hands me while we're out and about), and a pocket on the front that holds my digital camera.

I had a momentary crisis when I received the new iPod due to its size and weight -- I'd previously had a Nano, and LOVED it, but my husband kept loading music onto iTunes and I had to keep changing my selections because it would only hold 800 songs. (He's in a band, music nut, so he regularly hijacks my iPod for his own use in the car). He got me the 80G, and I now have 11,000 songs, 2 movies, and 3 videos on there, with 35G to spare.

I keep my Palm and iPod in aluminum cases -- lots of good Palm cases out there, especially on eBay, and the BEST supplier of iPod cases that I've found is corecases.com .

So, any other electronics geeks out there?

I don't have an iPod, but I do have a nice PDA (second one) with WIFI, digital camera (Canon 7.0) and cell phone that I regularly carry. I didn't want a smartphone, I'm still not comfortable with having all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.

My printer is very cool. It's an all-in-one that really does it all, very good quality. I spent a little money on that. It doesn't really fit my desk well, but given utility over decor, for that I had to choose utility.

Confirmed geek here. My husband pointed out a while back that I need to NEVER lose my purse due to the amount of electronics I carry around. There's the $500 stethoscope, the mp3 player (I don't do Ipod), the cellphone, and the palm.

I always have two purses at any given time for all this crap. One is the work bag that has some pockets in it, and is large enough for the steth, the books, the notebook, and all my other crap for work. The other is next to it on my desk and is a normal bag with a couple pockets for when I am not at work yet still need to carry a phone and my mp3 player.

Palm needs no pocket as I got an aluminum case. I got a leather padded case for the mp3 player that also has room in it for the headphones, which I hardly ever use. The cellphone could use a case but keeps getting stuck in a pocket.

But what about the GPS in your car? Being a "directionally impaired" male, I use it a lot!;)

I am a real techie all right ... just love gadgets!!!! They surely make my life much easier. At the moment I'm using my XDA Orbit Mobile Phone/Pocket PC that seems to have everything I need. Most importantly,at work I use it for my medical references (love it love it love it). I could use it to surf at home and chat with friends while lounging on my sofa watching my favorite films. Then I bought an XDA mini-S, don't know why, it's the same thing less the GPS.:p

My house is just filled with gizmos, even my 5 and 7 year-old kids know how to use them (ipod video,MyVu,digital camera,laptop- Vaio ,desktop-just love Mac, so a mac-mini for me, MacPro for hubby and PC for the kids ) :lol2: :monkeydance:

I have a Palm, I-Pod nano, cell, digital camera, GPS, and a host of printers along with 3 desktops. Had a laptop, never used it - so I gave it to my son.

Like some others - I don't like the camera on my phone, and when I upgrade the phone will not get a camera phone. I also like things lightweight, as I go backpacking and on occasion bring one or more gadgets with me.

I guess our lives are tied to technology whether we like it or not. I don't know anyone who does not have at least a cell or a computer. Wow, and to think I grew up without cable TV.... don;t know how we all survuived :)

I'm really happy with my Zen! It's easy to operate and has a long battery life... only charging it every few weeks. I have a half hour-ish drive to work so it comes with me every day. I'm thinking of getting one for my daughter because she breaks a cheap CD player at least once a year. Problem is, I'm concerned because I don't want to buy something quite a bit more expensive and have that break too.

Currently I'm trying to convince her to use that little antiquated thing on her radio called "FM" to listen to music. She thinks I'm insane.
