As a nursing student I have seen my fair share of burnt out nurses. Nursing care I've realized, takes a multifaceted approach and requires many different aspect to promote great patient care. My question is how do you as a nurse keep a positive attitude and not get burnt out?

You know, not that a nurse can't get burned out for a myriad of reasons, I stay positive because I knew what I was getting myself into and knew for sure that this is what I wanted to do! Hard to not get burned out when the reality that sets in doesn't match the fantasy one imagined, JMHO.

Everyone eventually gets burned out. The question is when not if.
How many bedside nurses do you see hanging around for 25+ years? Not many.

Good self-care, a belief that your welfare matters too, and a full life outside of nursing go a long way.
