I am graduating in 12 days from my LVN program. Our applications go out on the day after graduation so we can't sit for the boards until we get our notification that we are eligible. But once you get that how long did you wait? Some people wait a while, but I want to take it asap! I have been studying my NCLEX review books already (I have Kaplan and Lippincott)

The only reason I won't be taking it asap is because at my school, you end up waiting up to five weeks for the results if you do take it right away. I don't know if it's like this at other schools but ... it takes so long for my school to get all of the graduation records, transcripts etc. to the board that's why you don't get the results sooner.
If I'm going to sit around waiting and wondering if I passed for five weeks ... I figure I might as well use that five weeks for extra study time if I can't get my test results any sooner than that.

Congragulations on passing school. I personally took the NCLEX the very first date I could. I had to drive 2 hours, get a hotel, and spend money eating out. But in the end it was all worth it. Good luck to you.........we will keep our fingers crossed for you.

Yes take the test as soon as you can. It will be fresh in your memory and you won't have time to second guess. Of course you know the old "pick the one that jumps out at you first"- but I must say overall the test was VERY easy. I am not bragging- I have several friends that did VERY poorly in school and yet passed the test. When the computer shuts off early, it is usually a good sign. Mine shut off at 75- the minimum in the state I took it in. Basically, by the time you graduate, you either know it or you don't. You might want to look over little things but DO NOT overstudy. You will only become more confused and frustrated. Best of luck to you!!

Once I got my ATT, I scheduled the first date I could get...which was about a month and a half after I graduated....all depends when you get your ATT I guess. Definitely take it ASAP. The stuff will be fresh in your mind.

:yeahthat: I totally agree. Take it as soon as possible. You will be scheduling your test and feel that urge to procrastinate. Don't! Get it over with as the information is still fresh in that noggin of yours.

There are very compelling studies that show that with every month after graduation that students wait the chances of passing really declines. I took mine about 3 weeks after graduation. Like the others much of my knowledge especially about disease processes came from class lecture and I needed it to be fresh in my mind. FWIW I'm a really big fan of Saunders NCLEX study book. Good luck.

Hello
I graduated may 12 and took nclex on aug. 31 and I passed with 75 questions.. I agree with the other posters about taking it as early as you can, i had to have an unexpected surgery or else i would have taken it asap after graduation.
Good luck to u
