I will be taking NCLEX in about 4 weeks. I was thinking about taking it in Texas to get a compact license. How soon after I get my compact license can I get an endorsement for the state of Alabama (which isnt part of the compact)? If i test in Texas, would I have to work for a period of time before getting an endorsement elsewhere. My mother lives in Texas and father Alabama. I'm undecided where I want to work, but I just want to have options.
Thanks

OK Starting point is your permanent resident address in Texas? If not then compact is not going to happen. Suggest you read up on compact licenses. Once you have passed NCLEX and have a license then you can endorse to another state. Endorsement requires a license.

I got my original license in Indiana (non-compact). I got a job in Kentucky (compact state) and moved there. I have a compact license because my permanent residence is in Ky. If I move across the river back to Indiana and still keep my job, my license will revert to a single state license since I no longer live in a compact state.
